ReviewsRomazini: 4/5 StarsBold and very stylish sicilian Syrah. For many the best sicilian wine of all. Robert Parker: 90/100 PointsThe 2006 Syrah is a big, spicy wine bursting with dark fruit, earthiness, French oak and herbs. A kick of blueberry jam on the close adds lingering notes of sweetness to the finish. The Syrah possesses notable harmony in a generous, enveloping style. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012. This is one of the better sets of wines I can remember tasting from Planeta. The estate seems to have dialed back the use of oak, and at their finest, the wines offer lovely balance. The WinemakerRuby red with violet undertones. Complex and interesting bouquet. A combined spiciness of red fruit, including bilberries and blackberries. Hints of sage, black pepper and cinnamon. The impact leaves no gaps. Rich and soft, with a refreshing liveliness and smooth tannins. A sunny and expressive Syrah. Stephen Tanzer: 88/100 PointsVintage 2005: Very dark red. Violet, blueberry and licorice on the nose, currently showing little of the smoky bacon or grilled meat aromas usually associated with syrah. Lush and sweet on the palate, with oaky flavors of blueberry, dark plum and brown spices. Nicely balanced and less warm on the palate than the merlot. The finish is rich in black pepper, with the tannins starting smooth but turning a bit dry at the back. Falstaff: 88/100 PointsCustomer reviewsNo comment has been written to this post so far. |
