Vintage 2006: Bright ruby. Fresh red and dark berry aromas are complicated by smoky minerals and cola, with a bright overlay of cracked pepper. Candied blackberry and plum flavors are a bit treacly, but firm tannins add grip and focus. Finishes sweet and reasonably persistent. I'd have liked less confectionery character but fans of modern wines will disagree.
