ReviewsRomazini: 4/5 StarsThe WinemakerStephen Tanzer: 89/100 PointsDark red. Oak-spiced red berries and cherry on the nose, with hints of flowers and black tea adding complexity. Spicy redcurrant and bitter cherry flavors are sweetened by vanilla and cocoa powder, with dusty tannins adding grip. Finishes sweet and persistent, with deeper dark berries and an echo of vanilla. I'd give this some cellar time to allow the sweet oak to be absorbed, or serve it with a strongly spiced beef or lamb dish. The Wine Enthusiast: 90/100 PointsPurple and dense, with generous aromas of toasty oak, dark fruit and violet-like flowers. It's big and young, but well-knit. There is a ton of black-fruit flavor, admirable tannic grab, overall balance and length. Maybe it's not a mind-blower, but as Cigales seeks to achieve prime standing, wines like this will only help. Drink now through 2012. Customer reviewsNo comment has been written to this post so far. |
