ReviewsRomazini: 4/5 StarsAn Antinori classic. A storybook Chianti Classico Reserva. Refined and elegant. The Winespectator: 91/100 PointsVery rich aromas of blackberry jam, toasty oak and Indian spices. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and beautiful fruit. A rich and polished red. Drink now. 9,165 cases made. Robert Parker: 91/100 PointsThe estate's 2005 Chianti Classico Riserva Marchesi Antinori is sweet, supple and perfumed, with attractive layers of dark fruit that emerge from its medium-bodied frame. The wine possesses terrific intensity in a graceful, weightless style that is sure to find many admirers. The 2005 is an especially successful version of this bottling. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. From top to bottom this is a beautiful set of wines from Antinori. The estate's 2006 Guado al Tasso, Tignanello and Solaia are all beautiful, even if they don't appear to possess the elegance of the superb 2004s. The WinemakerVisually, the wine presents itself with an intense ruby red color. It has the characteristic fragrance of an elegant, fine wine with a freshness which reflects the climatic progression of this vintage year. The intense aromas of red fruit stand out, indicative of the optimal conservation of the fruit. On the palate the wine is well-balanced, with warm notes of vanilla and chocolate, derived from the contact with wood. It is characterized by a wonderful mineral content, with sweet tannins and a pleasant persistence. It is a refined and elegant wine which is well-suited for extended bottle-aging.
