The Winespectator: 87/100 Points
Cherry, licorice and tobacco notes are fresh and focused in this balanced red. Light, firm tannins provide enough structure for food, and the finish is lively. Monastrell and Syrah. Drink now through 2014.

The 2008 Luzon is a blend of 65% Monastrell and 35% Syrah. Dark ruby in color, it has an enticing perfume of violets, spice notes, black cherry, and blueberry. On the palate it shows off a racy, elegant personality with spicy blueberry flavors, lively acidity, and a fruit-filled finish. Enjoy it over the next four years.

Stephen Tanzer: 89/100 Points
Opaque ruby. Blackberry, cracked pepper and anise on the nose, with a suave floral overtone. Vibrant dark berry flavors are nicely framed by silky tannins and given depth by a note of bitter chocolate. A note of violet lingers on the juicy, gently sweet finish. Hard to imagine getting more complexity for the money.

A fun looking bottle, good as a take-along for the rash of festive parties and... the best bit... it drinks beautifully. At this price knocks the socks of anything you can find in the supermarkets. Manages to throw out lots of sparks and fruit while ending on a sophisticated mellow note. This is the wine i will be drinking this christmas.
